What Do You Do To Make Free Time?

Today I realized that I have very little free time to do anything fun and I was just wondering if anyone out there may have some ideas of how to MAKE free time. If there is a trick that I do not know, share it with me, OK?

Be in a good mood, W1zard007

Working To Hard

Spent all week ,or is that month, looking for ways to improve my jewelry store. It sure is a lot of work. My pagerank is "0" and I have another one with a "1". Can't be see until I get to a "3" from what I heard. My time is spent trying to improve the store and I still have to do my laundry, mow the grass and visit my mom. I hope some of you will visit my other blogs (w1zard007 , mythica and maybe my store, silvergoldjewels. You can find them all over by now.

Today I am going to try to borrow a camera so I can try that polishing my ring thing. Maybe I will post it next week. I'll try. It should be interesting, anyway.

My cat, Simon, seems to have a sore on his side. I need to get him to the vet, I"ll write more later.

Polish My Ring Myself?

What is new today? So far all I've thought about is what about polishing a ring with scratches?

I strongly advise against trying this yourself, I am an idiot who will try anything. Don't do it!! So now that I've said that- on with the show.

If a jeweler can do it why can't I? Of course the main reason is that I do not have the tools or resources to do a proper job of it. (I do have a dremil tool with some cloth looking wheels, and I have a jewelry cleaner and a polishing cloth.) And then the knowledge seems to be right here in front of me.

I ran a few laps in the wide world web and found that when a ring is first cast it is quite an ugly thing with spokes connecting the insides together and a mushroom chunk of gold rising from the spokes... all this is for the gold to flow properly and the air to escape from the mould. After the roughing in of these really rough areas with saws and files, sandpaper and scrapers, the ring starts to look like the one I have on my middle finger. (Yes. I have one on each finger of my left hand... after all I am Prince W1zard007). Using a polish called
Tripoli, one can use mechanical polishing tools to begin the next step to returning the original shine and luster to the ring with a dull sheen caused by micro scratches. A new ring always looks better than a ring wore daily.

The smaller areas of my ring do not seem to suffer under these small scratches as much as the larger surfaces. So I am going to try to polish my ring with a dremil tool and some of this Tripoli polish. When I am done with this I will place the ring into an ultrasonic cleaner for a couple of hours to remove any remaining polish. After I finish with this cleaning I will begin to polish with a jewelers rouge to bring the shine out of the gold, this will also be done with my handy dremil tool. Another cleaning in the ultrasonic and then I will hand buff the ring with a polishing cloth I bought at the local Wal-Mart.

When I get done with this test I will Post a "BEFORE" and "AFTER" picture on this site. Hey, who knows, maybe I'll find a way to polish other items as well.

I strongly suggest that if you want to have a gold item re polished that you bring it to a professional jeweler and be confident that it will be done in a sure and trusted manner.

Thinking about something new.(Mythically speaking)

Drawn by K. Werner 1994
Today was a good day for the people of Mythica. I enjoyed telling stories to the people that were looking for jewelry in 4Romeo-n-Juliet's store where they could buy things that make them sparkle and shine when the light hits their arms, fingers, and ears. Of course the day would not be complete if noone thought of nothing new. (My that sounded odd even to me, Prince W1zard007.)

Then it occurred to me that I could look out of the window to Mythica and I would see something growing there that I hadn't seen before. Yes, there it is over there.... some kind of flower I was just thinking about. I hope you think it is as beautiful as I think it is.

4Romeo-N-Juliet seems to be having trouble selling anything that twinkles, so I guess we should look in at his other place, SilverGoldJewels, and see what he is doing.

Mythica

Mythica is a wonderful and exciting place. I go there often and enjoy seeing the sights that you cannot see on Earth. The entire place is governed by things that appear in the minds eye. When you can picture the flower or animal in your head it shows up when you let your eyes wander around the landscape. This land is governed by the fabulous Prince W1zard007. He is kind and gentle and wants people to enjoy staying in Mythica. The second in command is 4Romeo-N-Juliet, he is interested in selling jewelry to make the people glitter and shine when they turn and the light catches the trinkets that are addorning their fingers and ears and such. Some of the places that you can go to from here are: Gold Rings, SilverGoldJewels, and of course we have W1zard007’s-Weblog. Enjoy popping in and out of these portals and feel free to leave a trail of comments as you go. Today I am off to see a new flower I thought of that looks somewhat like a rose, yet is not just right. It looks a bit like this one. The heart is the window to mythica and the butterfly just looked pretty so I thought of him too. I hope you like your visit and please come again as I will write more stuff later. W1zard007

Cleaning Jewelry The Easy Way

Cleaning jewelry can be a real chore if you do not use some type of handy “trick”. The tricks described in this article will help make cleaning your jewelry quicker and easier. I will not recommend using any of the following on Pearl jewelry as the soft shiny layers of the pearl can be easily damaged.
The cleaning of rings with difficult to reach settings of diamonds and the like can easily have the build-up of dirt and grime removed by placing the items in a glass and pouring club soda into the glass. According to Karl, at SilverGoldJewels, letting the bubbles do their work overnight will loosen the build-up from between the setting and release the shine that you remember when the ring was new.
Another way to clean hard to reach spots on your necklaces and other jewelry is to plop a couple of alka-seltzer into a glass of clear water and placing your jewelry into the glass as the bubbles again do the work for you.
Standing in the kitchen with your hand on the refrigerator you may notice a ring or two that has lost some of its luster. If you do then you are in just the right place for this one-- ketchup, when liberally globbed onto your gold ring will clean your jewelry quite well. Place you ring or other items (gold or silver) onto something that will not be stained with the ketchup, such as some old newspaper or on some paper towels. Grab the ketchup and give a little squirt. Wait about two to five minutes and rinse well with plenty of water. If there are some fine details of such on the item then you may try using an old toothbrush to scrub these hard to reach places. Be sure that all the ketchup gets removed or the vinegar and the acid found in the ketchup could continue to etch a spot into your beautiful jewelry or silverware.

Selling Jewelry On the Internet Is A Real Job.

How do I know about jewelry? Well, I wear a lot of it -- and I know what I like. Today I was looking around and saw a lot of men wearing more than one ring and bracelets.... but hardly anyone wears a watch anymore. I suppose that with all the cell phones and computers displaying the time... who needs a watch?

Today's economy doesn't leave much money in your pocket after the bills are paid (especially the money you spend to fill the gas tank). So why spend what little money you have left on jewelry? Well, for one thing as the value of the dollar falls, the value of gold goes up. Since the buying power of the mighty dollar becomes less every year and the value of foreign currencies such as the Euro and others get stronger, the amount of gold you can get for your dollar gets smaller and smaller. Just to make this point, if you have some gold jewelry lying around, you can sell it for much more today than what you paid for it.

If you buy any jewelry, another thing you may wish to consider is the weight of the item. If you buy for the gold value be sure to buy pieces that are not so delicate and covered with fancy scroll-work, as this fancy work takes the artisan time and drives the price of the item upward. When an item has large chunky links of blocky sections, then the weight of the gold is the driving force of the item... not the labor intensiveness.

Buy gold for several reasons: Gold increases in value. Gold is beautiful to look at. And gold holds up well with age. Today may be the best time to buy gold since sales are down... so are the prices.

Pen and Ink Artwork

I spent some time working on a collection of pen and ink drawings. I had little to do at the time and now I am able to show my work to others. I am placing a picture of mine at the bottom of this blog in the hopes that someone may think it interesting enough to comment on. I worked hard on this one and I am proud of it. Many times I have found myself wondering about the possibilities of selling such items on the internet. At this time I find myself with time on my hands and thought, "Today would be a good day to go Blogging." and now I am interested in your comments. Please provide me with feedback.

News To Me

I'm writing this notice to see how well this system works. I want to write some stuff that may contain some interest for those who may be interested in jewelry. Or maybe the reason I want to try this out is to write about mindless ramblings of a strange and convoluted personality, well rounded with several oddly unique personalities.
